Mess Management Specialists Support Missions

Around the world, every day of the year, Reserve Mess Management Sailors provide Navy and Naval Reserve Sailors with nutrients needed to do the job ahead. Their contributions to readiness, morale and well being make a difference for our nation’s success in crisis and in peacetime.

For example, at left, Chief Mess Management Specialist John Wippler prepares vegetables for an evening meal for Mobile Inshore Undersea Warfare Unit 212 Sailors supporting exercise Dynamic Mix 96 in Italy. MIUWU field campsite facilities include a mobile kitchen trailor that can provide hot, tasty meals for up to 250 personnel, as part of the self-sufficient environment a MIUW unit may need while conducting surveillance and counter-Special Operations Forces exercises.

Other Reserve Mess Management Specialists provide support to ships’ crews at sea, field hospitals, Seabee units and squadrons deployed for exercises and many other Fleet needs.
